WINSTON-SALEM – The Forsyth County Citizen Corps Council offered the first tri-annual Joint Community Emergency Response Team Refresher Training on April 8, 2010, at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem. Forty current CERT members attended this free day-long training. A 30-minute CERT Program presentation was also conducted for groups and individuals interested in joining the Forsyth County CERT Program. CERT Refresher Training highlights included chainsaw safety, fire safety, search and rescue operations, and medical operations.
Other activities took place throughout the day, as well. Identification badges were made for each CERT member, CERT packs were replenished with needed supplies, doorprizes were given away, and the teams were offered the opportunity to interact with each other.
A special thanks to all Forsyth County CERT members for volunteering to assist their neighbors and emergency responders during emergency situations!
