PEART and North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services are offering two FREE training sessions on the operation of a CAMET (Companion Animal Mobile Equipment Trailer) and emergency pet sheltering. Both sessions will take place in December of 2013. Would you like to volunteer your time to assist animals during emergencies and disasters? This training covers the basics of pet sheltering, contents of the CAMET and uses of the CAMET’s equipment.

Training is both classroom and hands-on. Please dress appropriately for outdoor segment.

Course Objectives:

– Train personnel about CAMET deployment

– Train personnel with CAMET equipment

– Train personnel the skills needed to set up a shelter

– Familiarize everyone with partners

Course Overview: NCDA&CS has partnered with PEART to train volunteers and emergency response personnel on the essential skills needed to set up an emergency animal shelter and how to utilize the CAMET. Training modules have been created for volunteers to learn how to properly use and deploy CAMETs in North Carolina. We hope to teach all possible users the things that they need to know to be able to utilize the CAMETs across the state to their full potential in the case of any disaster.

Course Instructors: NCDA&CS

Training open to the public. Target audience: volunteers, emergency response personnel, veterinarians, vet techs, animal control/shelter personnel, animal response teams, etc.
