- Princeville was practically swallowed up by the Tar River
- Most deaths occurred in vehicles as flood victims attempted to navigate flood waters
- 235 shelters were opened for evacuees
- Hazardous materials, such as pesticides, fuels, and animal waste from local farms, coated the flooded landscape
- In the end….an estimated $6 billion in damages
